The Gallery at Penn College Articles

New and not-so-new Penn College students ushered in the 2016-17 academic year during Welcome Weekend, the traditional lead-in to the start of the semester.

Pennsylvania College of Technology held its Summer Commencement on Saturday at the Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport. Hashim Abbas Alfulful, of Saudi Arabia, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in plastics and polymer engineering technology, was the student speaker for the 11 a.m. ceremony.

On Wednesday morning, Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week students participated in a quiz that took them into several buildings and labs on a circuitous path across main campus. The activity allowed campers to explore various locations, as well as interact with admissions representatives and academic school representatives, to learn more about the opportunities available at Penn College.

A series of academic-based camps at Pennsylvania College of Technology included enough information to satisfy minds hungry for challenge, while not forgetting that it IS summer.

A woman who grew up in Williamsport and credits early mentors with stirring her creativity and curiosity, is returning “home” to exhibit at The Gallery at Penn College. Michelle Ramin, an artist who lives and teaches in San Francisco, will begin the gallery’s 2016-17 exhibit season with her show, “The Sky’s (Not) The Limit,” a collection of oil paintings, watercolors and colored-pencil pieces.

If summer is a time of respite from work demands, a slower pace than usual or a heightened focus on leisure, someone on campus didn't get the memo.

Fine art by Abigail DeBloois, a student at Williamsport Area High School, is on display in the lobby of The Gallery at Penn College through June 30. DeBloois received an Artistic Excellence Award from The Gallery at Penn College.

Pennsylvania College of Technology provided a stunning backdrop for the Antique Automobile Club of America's Grand National Meet from Thursday through Saturday, an exciting and extraordinary event that was the largest ever held by the organization.

An 8-foot circle of acrylic on translucent Plexiglas and sand decorates the gallery floor. Titled “Full Circle,” the work inspired the exhibit’s name. The artist discusses the creative possibilities of Plexiglas. Gallery visitors listen to the artist’s talk. “Passage,” a magical vessel of translucent plexiglas, mylar, acrylic paint and salt, measures 20x72x35 inches.
