About

Ms. Sarah Moore is a faculty member in Human Services and Restorative Justice.  Upon completing her Bachelor Degree from Bloomsburg University in 2001, Sarah was certified by the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, Inc. as a Nationally Certified Sign Language Interpreter. Prior to her tenure at Penn College, Sarah earned her Master of Arts degree from Gallaudet University, a liberal arts college in Washington DC, where 90% of her faculty and classmates were deaf and used sign language to communicate. She has experience in public schools, post-secondary education, and the medical field, as well as in community settings. From 2005-2009, Sarah was employed in several public school as a School Guidance Counselor offering assistance in testing, mental health assessment, encouraging and fostering healthy relationships, and meeting the needs of school age children and their families.  In 2010, Sarah began her career at Penn College as a Sign Language Interpreter/Student Support Assistant in the office of Disability Services. Sarah’s primary roles were to interpret for students and employees when requested and also to assist and determine eligibility for any student who disclosed they needed assistance or accommodations at the collegiate level. In 2016, Penn College began offering American Sign Language classes and that is when her love for teaching began. She joined the Human Services and Restorative Justice faculty in 2019. Sarah believes in the power of creating meaningful relationships and the affects that come from offering kindness and compassion to all.
