On May 10, during National Nurses Week, Pennsylvania College of Technology dedicated its Nursing Education Center. The Nursing Education Center occupies the first floor of the Breuder Advanced Technology and Health Science Center’s west wing. The facility contains 10 dedicated classrooms and seven learning labs serving more than 350 students enrolled in nursing majors at the college.

Penn College’s hospitality department hosted its annual Culinary and Pastry Experience on April 29, showing off the work of students in five classes: Advanced Baking Applications for Culinary Arts, Cakes and Decorations, Classical and Specialty Dessert Presentation, Culinary Competition and Skills Assessment, and Principles of Chocolate Works.

More than 600 students – 601, to be exact – were served when Dining Services' long-running Midnight Breakfast tradition was held this past week in the Keystone Dining Room. Award-winning cake designer Irene Maston, named one of Brides magazine’s Top 100 Cake Designers, visited campus Thursday to provide a cake-sculpting demonstration in the Madigan Library. During her well-attended talk, she transformed a stack of triple-chocolate layer cakes to a likeness of the college’s Wildcat mascot.

On Wednesday, the annual Student Activities Awards banquet was held to honor student organizations, student leaders and advisers for their contributions to their organizations, Penn College and the Greater Williamsport community during the 2015-16 academic year. Joining the banquet as a special guest speaker was Craig A.

Fifty graduates of Williamsport Technical Institute, a Penn College predecessor that existed under that name from 1941-65, returned Friday for the 16th annual WTI reunion. While on campus, they reminisced with one another, evoking the people and places of the college’s past.

Fourteen graphic design seniors at Pennsylvania College of Technology will exhibit their work as part of “Design: 2016,” the annual student portfolio exhibition in The Gallery at Penn College. A public reception for the exhibit’s opening will be held Friday, April 29, from 4 to 6 p.m., in the gallery, located on the third floor of the Madigan Library.

Old Man Winter may have waited 'til spring to unleash one more surprise for the season, but Saturday's snowfall did not deter the Timber Fest at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center. Despite the poor weather conditions, attendance was good and the competition was keen.

Fifteen students in the Cakes and Decorations II course concluded the eight-week class Friday with a wedding cake competition.
