Penn College students worked alongside renowned Chef David Danielson, executive chef at Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby, during last week's Spring 2016 Visiting Chef Series. During Danielson’s stay on campus, he led the students in preparing a five-course meal that benefits scholarship funds.
About 1,500 fifth-grade students from 11 school districts in Lycoming and surrounding counties attended Thursday's Science Festival at Penn College. Co-hosted by College Transitions and the Williamsport/Lycoming Chamber of Commerce, the event offered youngsters a peek into math- and science-related career opportunities at a variety of campus locations throughout the day.
Everyone was a winner at Friday's "Valentine Book Bingo" at Penn College's Dunham Children's Learning Center, where youngsters and their families played picture bingo and prepared yogurt parfaits. A Student Activities program designed to erase stereotypes and embrace diversity – through the prism of stand-up – was held Friday in the Bush Campus Center. Comedians Negin Farsad and Dean Obeidallah (who, earlier in the day, screened their film, "The Muslims Are Coming!" there) returned to Penn's Inn for an evening comedy performance and an enlightening question-and-answer session.
"Dream Week," Penn College's annual celebration of the life and values of Martin Luther King Jr., this month provided an opportunity for students and employees to consider their role in a broader community.

“Muslim/American, American/Muslim,” a black-and-white photography exhibit showing Muslim Americans in their daily lives, is the next exhibit at The Gallery at Penn College. On display Jan. 14 through March 4, the works by photographer Robert Gerhardt seek to stir cultural understanding. A Meet the Artist Reception is set for 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, featuring a 5:30 p.m. gallery talk.
On a rarity of late – a blustery, chilly day that added appropriate atmosphere for an event called "Winter Commencement" – Pennsylvania College of Technology held its yearend graduation ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Community Arts Center.
