The first Pennsylvania regional juried show by the international Studio Art Quilt Associates will take place Oct. 22 through Dec. 8 at The Gallery at Penn College. Titled “Connected by Stitch,” the exhibit includes fiber-based artwork by 35 artists who are all current Pennsylvania members of SAQA and those that have chosen Pennsylvania as their second region.

Mother Nature was among the parents in town for Penn College's first Homecoming & Family Weekend, bringing persistent rain but failing to deter attendees from enjoying a full schedule of activities centered around "Our Proud Penn College Days." The turbulent weather prompted relocation of a number of those events, but the celebration – the first-ever melding of two formerly separate observances –

The first three weeks of the fall semester – replete with activities under the umbrella of "PC3" – provide students with a balanced menu of making friends, having fun, involving themselves in campus life and relieving the stress of late-summer studying.

For the 17th year Wednesday, Penn College students and employees enjoyed "Pack the Park Night" with the Williamsport Crosscutters. Free tickets were available across campus and complimentary bus service transported students safely to and from BB&T Ballpark. Fans saw a 4-2 win by the hometown favorites, who posted a winning season in their division but fell just short of a playoff berth.

Students looking to get involved with campus organizations or community nonprofits, or perhaps pick up some pocket money to quell the piggy-bank blues, found ample outlets for their talents at two simultaneous Tuesday events.

Artists and art lovers convened in The Gallery at Penn College on Tuesday evening for the opening reception of “Take Ten,” a special 10th-anniversary exhibition celebrating the venue’s commitment to contemporary art.

In support of a catalog documenting its 10th anniversary celebration, The Gallery at Penn College has received a $5,250 grant from a private foundation based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Elizabeth Firestone Graham Foundation awarded funding to support the gallery’s “Take Ten” catalog, created as part of the special anniversary exhibition running through Oct. 9.
