Alumni recount Maui fires for WNEP journalist

Prompted by a Penn College News story posted earlier in the week, WNEP's Chris Keating virtually interviewed two alumni dealing with the aftermath of the devastating wildfires on Maui: Kristen (Fortney) Patterson, who earned degrees in business administration: management concentration (2009) and legal assistant-paralegal (2014); and Matthew S. Francis, a 1998 accounting graduate.

Alumni share Lahaina fire experiences, donation ideas

The deadliest wildfire in the U.S. since 1918 torched Hawaii’s Maui island last month and touched the lives of two Pennsylvania College of Technology alumni. Both continue to cope with the tragedy that destroyed their hometown of Lahaina, killed numerous neighbors and harshly transformed their ideal definition of paradise.

Chesapeake Energy establishes endowed scholarship

Long-standing Pennsylvania College of Technology partner Chesapeake Energy has increased its support of students by establishing an endowed scholarship at the college. Awards from the scholarship will begin during the 2023-24 academic year. The Chesapeake Energy Endowed Scholarship may be used by students to defray the costs of tuition, fees, books, tools, required instructional supplies and any other eligible education expenses.

Alternative Credit refers to academic credits earned through means other than traditional college course completion, including: credit by exam, articulation, proof of competency gained in high school, work/life experience, and advanced placement.

International students who are studying in the United States on an F-1 visa must be enrolled in a full course of study in-person. Students are not permitted to enroll in an entirely online degree. Online degrees are available to international students pursuing the degree from their home country. Students must still meet all admissions criteria for admission to the college and any special admissions requirements that govern pursuit of their chosen major.
