Seventeen graphic design seniors at Pennsylvania College of Technology will exhibit their work as part of “Design: 2017,” the annual student portfolio exhibition in The Gallery at Penn College. A public reception for the exhibit’s opening will be held Friday, April 28, from 4 to 6 p.m., in the gallery, located on the third floor of the Madigan Library.

Hunger Awareness Week was observed April 17-21, with a number of Dining Services-sponsored events to call attention to a sobering fact: One in five Penn College students has experienced hunger or food insecurity. Among the activities were an Open House at The Cupboard, a food pantry for students; a Tuesday cookout; a free spaghetti dinner; and information tables at three campus dining units.

Penn College was well-represented at the recent Girls Exploring Tomorrow's Technology event at West Chester East High School, offering hands-on glimpses into "Taste of Sweet & Savory Technology" and "3-D Printing in Engineering and Industrial Design." The ever-bigger-and-better Wildcat Egg Hunt was held Saturday afternoon on campus, the third straight year for the event ... AND the third straight year for beautiful weather.

Friday's near-April showers caused Saturday's Open House crowds to bloom, bringing hundreds upon hundreds of prospective students and their families to Penn College for an inside look at a national leader in applied technology education.

A projected promising national employment outlook for the Class of 2017 proved to be the reality for Pennsylvania College of Technology students at the school’s recent Career Fair. More than 230 employers, a record for the Spring Career Fair, visited campus, offering approximately 2,500 jobs and internships to Penn College students. The employers included 17 Fortune 500 companies.

Large-scale photorealistic paintings in rich hues presented with luminous costume constructions are among the works exhibited with “Private Domain” in The Gallery at Penn College from March 14 through April 20.

Penn College's sixth annual Soul Food Dinner, the concluding event of Black History Month on campus, was held this past week in Dauphin Hall's Capitol Eatery. The centerpiece of the evening was a menu steeped in tasty tradition: ribs, yams, catfish, cornbread, rice and peach cobbler (among other regional treats), seasoned with side orders of music, poetry, trivia and nutritious goodwill.

The Society of Plastics Engineers' PlastiVan program recently visited Penn College to educate area students about the wonders of plastics and the rich career opportunities in the field. Students enjoyed hands-on activities revealing the power of plastics and toured the college's plastics labs.
