A Grand Pastry Buffet was the centerpiece for the college’s annual scholarship reception, which offers an opportunity for recipients of the more than 200 Penn College scholarships to mingle with and thank those who have funded the scholarships. The event, held Sunday, is the final project for students in the Pastry Food Show and Buffet Presentation Concepts course.
The pencil points the way to designs aplenty. Book jackets (on the display stand) and skateboard branding and illustrations (on the wall) by Todd R. Surkovich offer intricate details. The Lumley Aviation Center proved to be a popular venue for Friday's 17th annual reunion for graduates of Williamsport Technical Institute, a Penn College predecessor from 1941-65. Alumni and their guests, totaling about 75 attendees, enjoyed swapping stories, savoring lunch and listening to remarks by President Davie Jane Gilmour.

Seventeen graphic design seniors at Pennsylvania College of Technology will exhibit their work as part of “Design: 2017,” the annual student portfolio exhibition in The Gallery at Penn College. A public reception for the exhibit’s opening will be held Friday, April 28, from 4 to 6 p.m., in the gallery, located on the third floor of the Madigan Library.
Hunger Awareness Week was observed April 17-21, with a number of Dining Services-sponsored events to call attention to a sobering fact: One in five Penn College students has experienced hunger or food insecurity. Among the activities were an Open House at The Cupboard, a food pantry for students; a Tuesday cookout; a free spaghetti dinner; and information tables at three campus dining units.
