Two employers are visiting Penn College March 24 and 26 to discuss internship and career opportunities with students who have culinary, architectural, civil engineering and CAD skills. Students are encouraged to stop by the “pop-up” recruitment tables with their resumes.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Construction Management Association was a top finisher in the Associated Builders and Contractors annual Construction Management Competition, held Feb. 23-27 in Las Vegas as part of the organization’s annual convention. The six-student team represented the college in a field of 34 colleges and universities, most of them much larger, and earned first place in three of four categories: estimating, project management and safety. A quiet act of kindness was captured last week during Spring Break. Brenda M. Kline, office assistant to counseling services, was making her way to The Cupboard, Penn College’s food pantry for students in need of food assistance, with a cartload of food to donate in observance of her 37th work anniversary at the institution.

Pennsylvania College of Technology graphic design graduate Casey Gleghorn, ’09, returns to Williamsport to deliver a guest lecture at 5:30 p.m. Monday, March 24, in Lycoming College’s Fine Arts Lecture Hall. Gleghorn is the director of Derosia Gallery in New York City.

Welding students at Pennsylvania College of Technology are the spark behind an ambitious Spring Semester initiative that will benefit Little League Baseball. About 70 students in five sections of his Welding Blueprint & Layout II class are fabricating a stainless-steel globe to be placed on the Little League complex in South Williamsport.

The Automotive Service Excellence Foundation has reaccredited six programs offered by Pennsylvania College of Technology’s School of Engineering Technologies. Associate degrees in automotive technology, automotive technology: Honda PACT, collision repair technology and diesel technology, as well as certificates in collision repair technician and automotive service technician received the coveted recognition.

A campus tradition since 2009, the Student Government Association’s annual Silent Auction is set for noon to 4 p.m., Friday, March 21, with online bidding through BidPal One. Beginning Thursday, auction items can be viewed via the online site, and they can also be seen in-person in the Bush Campus Center lobby beginning at noon on Friday.

A long-term corporate partner of Pennsylvania College of Technology is extending its commitment to the school’s popular welding program. Hypertherm Associates, a U.S.-based manufacturer of industrial cutting products and software, is providing the college with 10 new machines as part of a two-year entrustment renewal.

Although Penn College students were on Spring Break last week, their caring efforts still made an impact in the local community, as the Office of Student Engagement’s Spring Break Donation Initiative delivered gifts to four local nonprofit organizations. The items were made possible by Penn College students who have worked on various service projects throughout the Spring Semester, including creating care kits and homemade dog toys.

An iconic antique vehicle restored by Pennsylvania College of Technology students received high honors at a recent prestigious car show in Coral Gables, Florida. Tucker No. 1013, a 1948 vehicle, won the Best in Class Award for the American Dream Collection at Moda Miami. Held on the grounds of the historic Biltmore Hotel, Moda Miami is considered one of the world’s premier car events, attracting luxury brand enthusiasts, collectors and industry professionals.
