Raising awareness and encouraging campus community members to register as organ donors is at the heart of the “Gift of Life College Challenge,” a project being pursued on the Penn College campus through April 28. Penn College nursing students, Wellness Committee and other partners kicked off the initiative by distributing small bags of Hershey’s Kisses and organ donor information

“Speed Date Your Career,” held recently in the Center for Career Design, gave students the opportunity to engage with Penn College Corporate Tomorrow Makers for networking practice, recruitment opportunities, raffle prizes and refreshments.

Penn College Athletics recently hosted its 10th National Girls & Women in Sports Day clinic. Over 60 young participants signed up for this year’s event and had the opportunity to participate in five of the college’s women’s sports: basketball, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball.

Pennsylvania College of Technology recently bestowed a DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing Students on Elexus J. Dunkleberger, of Hughesville. Dunkleberger, who completed an associate degree in nursing from the college in December, was one of 15 nominees for the award following the Fall 2024 semester. She received nominations from two fellow students and from a family member of a patient she cared for during a clinical education experience.

Over 65 Penn College students engaged with 16 employers at the Human Services & Restorative Justice Internship and Job Expo. “Engaging with employers early and often helps students gain a clearer understanding of career possibilities and build meaningful professional connections," said Elizabeth E. Winder, associate professor of human services & restorative justice.

Penn College’s Fitness Center held a Student Member Appreciation Day. “We wanted to show our appreciation to students who regularly use the Fitness Center by rewarding them with some goodies,” said Gayle M. Kielwein, coordinator of student engagement operations. “Treats were pina colada and strawberry smoothies, various ‘healthier’ snacks, and some awesome giveaways.”

Whitestone will be recruiting Penn College civil engineering, construction management and concrete science majors at a "Pop-up Employer Information Table" in College Avenue Labs on Wednesday, Feb. 19. The company will be set up in the hallway near CAL 114 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Penn College at Wellsboro’s one-year practical nursing program is profiled in this inspiring, four-minute video that introduces viewers to students, graduates, faculty, facilities and the program director. “This gave me an opportunity to better myself and get a better job,” shared recent graduate Megan Lewis. “I’m really thankful for that, honestly.”

Wildcats are not shy about showing their affections – especially when it comes to food and bingo! Among the mid-February events captured by Penn College student photographer Anna E. Reed: a “Sweetheart Pajama Party” and a “Pack the Pantry” Bingo.
