The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Penn College's Madigan Library, will host "Applied Landscape," an exhibit by Millville artist Cynthia Harper, through May 6. An artist's talk and reception marked the exhibit's official opening Tuesday afternoon. Regular gallery hours for the show are Sunday, 1-4 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 2-8 p.m.; and Wednesday and Friday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

"Literacy in the Classroom and in the Home" was among the presentations during last weekend's Central Susquehanna Association for the Education of Young Children annual conference on Penn College's main campus. Billie A.

A regional computer fair for middle- and high-school students from 19 area districts, sponsored by BLaST Intermediate Unit 17, was held Monday and Tuesday at Penn College. Students competed in categories including Web-page design, desktop publishing, logo design, digital moviemaking and graphic design.

Penn College's Act 101 program held its annual Recognition Dinner in Penn's Inn on Thursday evening to celebrate the 2007 Act 101 graduating students. Five of the graduates were in attendance, including Angela Mayo, a graduating Act 101 student leader (center in photo at far left), who was the guest speaker for the evening's event.

It was a long, but successful night for the Penn College Dance-a-Thon, which raised a total of $1,698.36 for the American Cancer Society. Three student organizations the Student Government Association, Residence Hall Association and Wildcat Events Board sponsored the 12-hour "Dance for Hope" that began at 6 p.m. Friday.

Twenty-six Pennsylvania College of Technology students were inducted Saturday into the Pennsylvania Xi Chapter of Alpha Chi, a national honor society for baccalaureate students. Membership in Alpha Chi is open to bachelor-degree students from all academic disciplines and is limited to the top 10 percent of an institution's junior and senior classes.

In partnership with Lycoming County Big Read 2007, in which residents are reading and discussing Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird," Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library will host a public presentation titled "Stand Up Children, Your Father Is Passing" from 10-11 a.m. April 13 in Room 200 of the library.
