Penn College placed second amongeight teams in last weekend's Heavy Equipment Rodeo at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center, whilefour of its students placed in various categories.

The second annual "CalJava Wedding Cake Contest," conceived by prominent cake decorator Daniel Budiman for Pennsylvania College of Technology students, is scheduled for April 30 on the college's main campus in Williamsport. Budiman is CEO of CalJava International the contest's sponsor and editor of Here Comes the Cake magazine.

The Student Activities Office hosted the second annual "Awesome Women Exemplars" program in observance of Women's History Month on Tuesday night, honoring 39 women from the campus community during a reception in Penn's Inn. Three student organizations are sponsoring a 12-hour dance-a-thon at Pennsylvania College of Technology this month, offering the campus community several ways to contribute to the American Cancer Society. "The Penn College Dance-a-Thon," tagged the "Dance for Hope," will be held from 6 p.m. Friday, March 30, to 6 a.m. Saturday, March 31, in Penn's Inn in the Bush Campus Center.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro will host an open house from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, for those interested in nursing as a career. This event will feature tours of the campus, located just east of Wellsboro on Route 6; opportunities to speak with administration and faculty; and information about the application process, tuition and financial aid.

Approximately 600 seventh- to ninth-graders from 12 school districts visited Pennsylvania College of Technology's campuses on March 12 to learn about careers through hands-on activities and tours. Among the activities available for groups on the main campus were creating video games, operating robots, practicing emergency medical skills, using television studio equipment and taking X-rays.

Nature's role in children's health is the topic of a free presentation at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in the Klump Academic Center Auditorium at Pennsylvania College of Technology, sponsored by the college's Earth Smart Club in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Educators.
