Fifteen high school students from Pennsylvania and Maryland, each nominated by his or her graphic arts instructor, attended Pennsylvania College of Technology's first Media Arts Summer Exposure − an intense three days of workshops focused on video production, radio broadcasting, graphic design and graphic communications.

"Welcome Weekend," a two-day get-acquainted program for new Penn College students, began Saturday morning. Blue-shirted students, faculty and staff were on hand across campus to make it easier for students to say "hello" to their new surroundings (and less-traumatic for parents to say "goodbye for now").

Penn College students and administration were among the community leaders taking part in Thursday evening's festive Grand Slam Parade to officially begin the Little League World Series. Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Hospitality will host "A Farewell Tribute to Peter Hellermann," longtime general manager of the school's Le Jeune Chef Restaurant, on Sept. 10. Frederick Frank, president of the award-winning Dr. Konstantin Frank Vinifera Wine Cellars, will be the guest vintner in a fitting tribute to Hellermann as he retires.

The Center for Business & Workforce Development, dedicated Thursday on the campus of Pennsylvania College of Technology, continues the college's tradition of responding to employers' needs and preparing students to seek the jobs of tomorrow.

The ninth annual Extrusion Seminar and Hands-On Workshop, hosted by Pennsylvania College of Technology's Plastics Manufacturing Center, was held on the college's main campus July 31-Aug. 2, attracting participants from eight states and Canadian provinces. The seminar was led by Chris Rauwendaal, of Rauwendaal Extrusion Engineering in Auburn, Calif., and Kirk M.

Pennsylvania College of Technology will hold a commencement ceremony Saturday, Aug. 11, for the 235 students who have petitioned to graduate from the college this month. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. in the Community Arts Center, 220 W. Fourth St., Williamsport. Jared Frederick Finck, Sparta, N.J., will be the student speaker for the ceremony.

Pennsylvania College of Technology hosted its seventh annual residential SMART Girls (Science and Math Applications in Real World Technologies for Girls) program July 15-18. Twenty-five girls participated in the program, which is for young women entering ninth and 10th grades.

The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, has scheduled nine diverse exhibits for the 2007-08 academic year. With the new season, the gallery introduces the Penn College Proud Showcase and the Current View Artist Series.
