More than 1,000 students have petitioned to graduate in May from Pennsylvania College of Technology. The college will hold two commencement ceremonies May 19 at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport. A ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. for students in the schools of Business and Computer Technologies, Health Sciences, Hospitality, and Industrial and Engineering Technologies.
Air Affair East, organized to bring together well-known custom painters and airbrush artists to showcase their work and share their eye-catching technique with Pennsylvania College of Technology students and other participants, was held in College Avenue Labs last week. Resident Assistants at The Village at Penn College hosted their annual Villapalooza from 9-11 p.m. Sunday. The event included Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero, RA Clayton Morrow as DJ, casino tables and mocktails. For the first time since the tradition began in 2001, the RAs decided on a late-night event with glowing mocktail glasses and outdoor video screens.
The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, will host "Visions in Wood," an exhibit of carvings by Kenneth E. Carl, former Williamsport Area Community College president and Williamsport Technical Institute director. Both institutions were forerunners of Penn College. The exhibit will run May 15 to June 17.
Pennsylvania College of Technology was host recently to the annual convention for the Middle Atlantic Conference of Human Services, organized by members of the college's human services faculty. The event carried the theme "EmPOWerment: People, Opportunities and Well-Being." It featured a keynote address by Monte Meier, a member of the U.S.
Nearly 30 guests took part in Thursday's "Take Our Daughters & Sons to Work" Day, which encouraged girls and boys to think now about how they can begin shaping their futures.
More than 100 children and guests, ranging in age from 6 months to over 60 years, gathered for the Children's Learning Center spring picnic at the Earth Science Center on Thursday evening. "We played games, had delicious food prepared by the College Hospitality Department, and generally enjoyed being outdoors together," said Karen Woland Payne, director of the learning center.
PGA Tour member Bobby Clampett will be the visiting pro at the Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation's 21st Annual Spring Golf Classic on May 7 at the Williamsport Country Club. Net proceeds from the event will benefit the Penn College Foundation Golf Classic Scholarship.
Did you know that Food Services has kept 5,242 pounds out of the waste stream this school year? This has been accomplished by sending vegetable scraps and coffee grounds to the Earth Science Center to be composted. The Penn College community learned more about that process and other efforts Food Services is making to help the environment during an Earth Day Fair from noon-2 p.m.
