The 2007 Homecoming celebration at Pennsylvania College of Technology will feature two events in which the public is invited to participate: Donkey Basketball on Thursday, Oct. 11, and the Penn College Homecoming Car Show on Saturday, Oct. 13.
On Thursday, Oct. 11, the Cisco Networking Academy at Penn College will host the Cisco Systems Network On Wheels (NOW), sponsored by NEC Unified Solutions, Inc. The Cisco NOW is a 25-foot van equipped with the latest Cisco networking technologies. This unique showcase provides hands-on demonstrations of proven integrated networking solutions that are customizable to any business size and needs.
On Sept. 29 and 30, Penn College's catering class will again provide food at the annual Gourmet Harvest Festival at Hunt Country Vineyards in Branchport, N.Y., on the western flank of Keuka Lake. The students will be accompanied by chefs Michael J. Ditchfield, the catering class instructor, and Monica J. Lanczak and Paul Mach, who will offer cooking demonstrations.
The older preschool classes at the Children's Learning Center recently celebrated Grandparents Day by inviting the grandparents to spend the morning with their grandchildren. They shared stories, sang songs and made bookmarks together. After celebrating Grandparents Day, the staff also invited each of the grandparents to return as a guest reader. Photos by Regina G. The first International Coffee Hour of the 2007-08 school year, held on the second floor of the Madigan Library from 3:30-5 p.m. Thursday, was a success.
From Friday through Sunday, Pennsylvania College of Technology student drivers, mechanics and welders descended upon Williamsport's Brandon Park to participate in the 11th annual Susquehanna 500, a charity go-kart race sponsored by the Northcentral Pennsylvania chapter of the American Red Cross.
An exhibition of student photography is on display in Bookmarks in the Madigan Library. The photographs are part of student work completed for the Commercial Photography course (PHO230) taught by Gary R. DiPalma, instructor of graphic design, in the Spring 2007 semester. Photographs were taken in four basic subject areas: fashion/portrait, food, product and architecture.
More than 100 people traveled the West Branch of the Susquehanna on Friday night, as Student Activities sponsored a "Wing Cruise" aboard the Hiawatha paddleboat. The Hog Bash pig roast, sponsored by the Construction Management Association and the Student Activities Office, was held Thursday on the CC lawn. The annual event held on a gorgeous, pre-fallevening featured free food, mechanical-bull rides, games and more.
Weeks of preparation and tireless teamwork will culminate in this weekend's 11th annual Susquehanna 500 Mini-Indy competition, in which Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty/staff and students and a group of visitors from Mexico will continue their historic participation on behalf of the American Red Cross.
