A new scholarship fund at Pennsylvania College of Technology will memorialize a past president of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America. A faculty member in Pennsylvania College of Technology's drafting and computer aided design department recently passed an eight-hour examination to become a Certified SolidWorks Professional. Jeffrey D. Mather became one of 23 professionals in Pennsylvania to earn Certified SolidWorks Professional status when he took the test during the SolidWorks World 2007 User Conference and Exposition Feb.

Ben Crago, a certified STIHL trainer, used the ESC Industry Room from Feb. 20-22 to conduct training courses for local dealer representatives in exchange forinstructing the college's forestry and ornamental horticulture students on equipment safety and maintenance. Such training truly benefits Penn College students and, most likely, will reduce the risk of injuries.

Continuing a long-standing and beneficial relationship with Pennsylvania College of Technology, Caterpillar Inc. recently donated a used multi-terrain loader to the college's School of Natural Resources Management. Alban Tractor Co. Inc.

A retired professor of horticulture will continue to help students succeed by establishing a new scholarship fund at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The Richard J. Weilminster Scholarship Fund will generate awards for students in Penn College's landscape/nursery technology associate-degree major.

Four Pennsylvania College of Technology employees participated in "Autodesk University 2006," with one of them presenting two sessions at the software company's annual conference and exhibition. At the event, held Nov. 28 to Dec. 1 in Las Vegas, Jeffrey D.

Representatives of Penn College's School of Natural Resources Management joined alumni relations and admissions staff at the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg on Wednesday. The "Horticulture Wheel of Fortune" was very popular with youngsters, who would spin the wheel to identify the topic (soil, botany, landscaping, etc.) on which they would be asked a question.

Two more Pennsylvania College of Technology alumni have been state-certified as horticulturists on the basis of their performance in a recent four-part examination. Kurt M. Boyer, of Lebanon, and Karl F. Womer, of Bloomsburg both of whom recently graduated with associate degrees in landscape/nursery technology passed the Pennsylvania Certified Horticulturist test.
