Students from Pennsylvania College of Technology and four other institutions will compete when the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Woodsmen's Meet returns to the college's Schneebeli Earth Science Center on April 17. Participants will compete in a dozen event categories from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., including archery, ax throw, crosscut saw, log roll, pulp toss, pole fell, chain saw and speed chop.

A recent donation from ValleyCrest Landscape Maintenance's Norristown office, part of the California-based ValleyCrest Landscape Companies, will benefit students in Pennsylvania College of Technology's Ornamental Horticulture Program. Eight Pennsylvania College of Technology students recently passed the Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator Certification examination, a three-hour test that boosts their employability by adding a valuable credential to their job-hunting toolkit. Pennsylvania College of Technology students enrolled in the computer aided product design major wrapped up their fall semester with a high-flying hands-on project. The students, all enrolled in the Design and Production Drawings course, spent the last four classes in the fall semester designing and building catapults, trebuchets and similar medieval-style throwing devices.

SkillsUSA is a national student organization that, in an effort to alleviate skills shortages in the workforce, develops employability, participatory and leadership skills.
