Prize money won by Pennsylvania College of Technology students at a competition in 2002 will be used to fund a new scholarship at the college. The School of Natural Resources Management Ornamental Horticulture Scholarship will generate a $1,000 award for each of the next six years.

Colin W. Williamson, Penn College's dean of transportation technology and a 20-year Navy commander will discuss "The Construction of the U.S. Fleet for the Battle of Lake Erie" at 2 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Thomas T. Taber Museum of the Lycoming County Historical Society, 858 W. Fourth St.

A new scholarship fund at Pennsylvania College of Technology aims to reward high grades and community service among students in the college's School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies. The School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies Endowed Scholarship Fund is building toward endowed (permanent) status, with a goal of at least $25,000 in the fund.

Penn College announces the following position changes, effective immediately: Lawrence J. Fryda will become special assistant to the senior vice president for Stage10 building programs. Pennsylvania College of Technology's computer aided drafting technology major recently was recertified by the American Design Drafting Association. ADDA, an organization for designers, drafters, architects, illustrators and technical artists, provides certification to recognize schools whose design/drafting curriculum meets its established and approved standards.

Twenty-two high school students attended Summer Technology Camp on Penn College's campus June 24-27, during which they experienced hands-on workshops in all of the School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies laboratories.

Pennsylvania College of Technology is ranked in the top 50 associate-degree-producing colleges in the nation and is in the top 20 for several areas of study-- including three top-five rankings-- in a recent survey conducted by a national publication covering community, technical and junior colleges.

A member of Penn College's horticulture faculty is featured in the May/June issue of Pennsylvania Landscapeand Nursery magazine, the official publication of the Pennsylvania Landscape and Nursery Association. Carl J. Bower, recipient of a PLNA scholarship while a student at the college, is profiled in a "Where Are They Now?" update about past winners.

Penn College's Outreach for K-12 Office is sponsoring a Summer Technology Camp, "Are Widgets and Gidgets in YOUR Future?" The camp will run from Sunday, June 24, to Wednesday, June 27 (an overnight camp). The camp is FREE, but has limited enrollment. The registration deadline is May 30. Students entering grades nine and 10 this fall can register online at Outreach for K-12 Office's Web site.

Air Affair East, organized to bring together well-known custom painters and airbrush artists to showcase their work and share their eye-catching technique with Pennsylvania College of Technology students and other participants, was held in College Avenue Labs last week.
