Penn College's award-winning, national public television series "You're the Chef" will be the focus of WVIA-TV's " State of Pennsylvania " program from 7-8 p.m. Thursday. "You're the Chef" hosts Chef Paul Mach and Tom Speicher, along with School of Hospitality students Rachel Hall and Christine Faherty, will be on hand to discuss the series' seventh season, which premieres at 12:30 p.m.
A College-record turnout of 300 donors is sought for today's Red Cross Bloodmobile, which willvisit Penn's Inn (CC, second floor) from 9:45 a.m.-3:45 p.m. Many ask, "What good can I do?" Take a look at this personal story of saving a life: Greetings Penn College Community. For all who continue to faithfully donate blood, I thank you. Pennsylvania College of Technology will hold Fall Visitation Day for prospective students and their families as well as other visitors who wish to learn more about the College on Sunday, Oct. 24. It is not necessary to pre-register, but those who register online by Oct. 18 will receive a suggested schedule of activities in order to make the most of their time on campus.
Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend,and enter a vehicle in,the Penn College Auto Show,which will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9,at the College West Apartments parking lot. Registration for show entries will begin at 3 p.m.
Penn College enjoyed another successful race weekend for an excellent cause: the local chapter of the American Red Cross. John Macko, Wayne Smith and Howard Troup prepared two highly tuned karts for the race, which will be their last as the torch is being passed to others to carry forth.
The Penn College community will have two opportunities this week to meet and welcome a group of visitors from Mexico. The College is hosting a group of students from Mexico throughOct. 3. They are from the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey campus in Toluca, Mexico. The visit is part of an exchange between "Monterrey Tec" and Penn College.
Malaysian satay and dipping sauces will be on the menu when Chef Paul E. Mach an assistant professor in Penn College's School of Hospitality offers the "Origin of Hibachi" at noon Friday, Sept. 24, in the courtyard outside the College Library:
An overview of the "graphic novel," a still-emerging genre of narrative literature, will be the subject of the Penn College Library's fifth Faculty Forum, to be held from 3-4 p.m. Oct. 6. David S. Sims, associate professor of English, will define some of the major characteristics of the form, then analyze sample frames by such practitioners as R. Crumb, Art Spiegelman and Chris Ware.
Chef Michael J. Ditchfield and his Catering students from the School of Hospitality thank the Penn College community for its support during Saturday's Williamsport Outdoor Growers Association Market. The students prepared food from locally grown ingredients, available at the outdoor market on Saturdays through October.
The Children's Learning Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology will hold a 10th birthday party from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, at the Bush Campus Center on the College's main campus. To celebrate the anniversary, the center is inviting all former students/enrollees and their families to an open house on the lawn outside the Campus Center.
