Two "story time" events are scheduled in the Penn College Library in recognition of National Children's Book Week. The Birds (children ages 3-5 years) will visit the library at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18. Jenny Maurer, library technical services manager, will be the reader. The Bunnies (children 2-3 years) will visit the library at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19.

Pumpkins, princesses, Power Rangers and assorted other costumed cuties briefly paraded on main campus Friday. While the weather played some tricks with the traditional Halloween route, it was all a treat for those fortunate enough to catch a glimpse.

Penn College faculty, staff and students are invited tobring their youngsters (ages 2 to 10 years) for a night of "Halloween Fun" sponsored by the Residence Hall Association. In the past, RHA has held trick-or-treating in the campus residence halls but, this year, decided to provide more activities for the children. The Gallery at Penn College on the main campus of Pennsylvania College of Technology will host "LeftRight," a collection of artwork by Warren Linn, from Nov. 2-26. An opening reception will take place Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 3:30 to 6 p.m., with an artist's talk scheduled at 4 p.m. Both the opening and the talk are free and open to the public.

It's never too early to begin exploring career possibilities for children, and parents of middle-school students will enjoy a unique opportunity when Pennsylvania College of Technology offers a "Parent Career Fair" on Oct. 21. The event, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.

Chef Joseph Poon, owner of Joseph Poon Asian Fusion Restaurant, will prepare the Distinguished Visiting Chef Series Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 13, at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The dinner, which costs $125 per guest, will begin at 7 p.m. at the College's Le Jeune Chef Restaurant. Net proceeds will be used for annual scholarship awards and endowed scholarship funds.

Join Chris Norris, state president of The Ancient Order of Hibernians of America, and James C. McMahon, College controller, for the story of their travels through Ireland in a program to be held in the Penn College Library from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20. The Penn College Fitness Center Open House Party will be held Monday, Oct. 18., from 3 to 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The Office of Instructional Technology & Distance Learning is sponsoring participation in the Teaching Online in Higher Education Conference. This year's theme is "Politics, Ethics and Online Instruction." Offered entirely via the Internet, TOHE features presentations and discussions on topics that are quickly becoming the focus of debates on many campuses. The conference will be held Nov.

Penn College's award-winning, national public television series "You're the Chef" will be the focus of WVIA-TV's " State of Pennsylvania " program from 7-8 p.m. Thursday. "You're the Chef" hosts Chef Paul Mach and Tom Speicher, along with School of Hospitality students Rachel Hall and Christine Faherty, will be on hand to discuss the series' seventh season, which premieres at 12:30 p.m.
