Forty girls are expected on the Pennsylvania College of Technology campus July 11-14 to explore science and math in hands-on fashion during the College's fourth annual SMART Girls (Science and Math Applications in Real-World Technologies for Girls) summer program. The residential session is for young women entering ninth and 10th grades.

The Williamsport Crosscutters have teamed with Pennsylvania College of Technology to add some local flavor to their "Salute to TV Night" scheduled for Tuesday, July 6, at historic Bowman Field.

Pennsylvania College of Technology is hosting a Welding Workshop this week to help the state's teachers better prepare high-school students for the demands of higher education and today's workforce. Pennsylvania College of Technology's Office of Alumni Relations will host the fourth annual Williamsport Technical Institute reunion on June 18 for alumni of the Penn College predecessor institution. "This reunion gets a little bigger every year as we locate more and more of our 'lost' W.T.I. alumni," said Barbara A. Danko, director of alumni relations at Penn College.

A May 7 program entitled "The Three Mile Island Nuclear Plant Accident The First Two Hours" will be the fourth in a series of faculty forums to be presented at the Pennsylvania College of Technology Library. The program, which will be presented by Thomas E. Ask, assistant professor of HVAC Technology/Mechanical Refrigeration, is free and open to the public. It will be offered from noon to 1 p.m.

Billy Ray Brown, winner of three PGA tour events and currently an on-course golf reporter for ABC Sports, will be the featured pro at the 18th Annual Golf Classic hosted by the Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation on May 10 at the Williamsport Country Club. The annual fund-raising event for sponsors supports the Scholarship Aid Program for Penn College students.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus near Wellsboro will host an open house on Thursday, April 29, for those considering nursing as a career. The 5 to 7 p.m. event will feature tours of the campus (located just east of Wellsboro on Route 6), opportunities to speak with current students and faculty, as well as information about the application process, tuition and financial aid.

"The Engaged Librarian: Activism on the Library Issues of the Day" will be the topic of a program to be presented April 27 at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The program, which is free and open to the public, will be presented by Ann Sparanese, head of adult and young adult services at Englewood Public Library, Englewood, N.J. It will be offered from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Design and construction professionals, homeowners, students and others can receive helpful information about environmentally friendly products and services when the Fifth Annual Green Building Fair is presented April 5-6 at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
