A presentation by William S. Parsons, chief of staff of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, in the ACC Auditorium. Parsons, a 1967 graduate of Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa,will discuss"Remembering the Past for the Sake of the Future." The program, co-sponsored with Lycoming College, is free and open to the public.
The Gallery at Penn College on the main campus of Pennsylvania College of Technology will host the artwork of faculty member Patrick Murphy from Dec. 2-17. An opening reception for the exhibit, "Recent Works," will take place Thursday, Dec. 2, from 3:30 to 6 p.m., with an artist's talk scheduled at 4 p.m.
A time capsule containing items that reflect Pennsylvania College of Technology, the local community and the world in which we live was placed in a wall at the newly renovated Klump Academic Center on Tuesday.
More than 300 students have petitioned to graduate in December from Pennsylvania College of Technology, which will hold Winter Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport. The student speaker for the ceremonies, which begin at 11 a.m., will be Hannah P.
Two "story time" events are scheduled in the Penn College Library in recognition of National Children's Book Week. The Birds (children ages 3-5 years) will visit the library at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18. Jenny Maurer, library technical services manager, will be the reader. The Bunnies (children 2-3 years) will visit the library at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19.
Pumpkins, princesses, Power Rangers and assorted other costumed cuties briefly paraded on main campus Friday. While the weather played some tricks with the traditional Halloween route, it was all a treat for those fortunate enough to catch a glimpse.
Penn College faculty, staff and students are invited tobring their youngsters (ages 2 to 10 years) for a night of "Halloween Fun" sponsored by the Residence Hall Association. In the past, RHA has held trick-or-treating in the campus residence halls but, this year, decided to provide more activities for the children. It's never too early to begin exploring career possibilities for children, and parents of middle-school students will enjoy a unique opportunity when Pennsylvania College of Technology offers a "Parent Career Fair" on Oct. 21. The event, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.
Chef Joseph Poon, owner of Joseph Poon Asian Fusion Restaurant, will prepare the Distinguished Visiting Chef Series Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 13, at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The dinner, which costs $125 per guest, will begin at 7 p.m. at the College's Le Jeune Chef Restaurant. Net proceeds will be used for annual scholarship awards and endowed scholarship funds.
