Twenty Penn College students and 15 students from area secondary schools competed at a Feb. 22 welding contest in the college's Avco-Lycoming Metal Trades Center. The contest, conducted by the Central Pennsylvania Section of the American Welding Society, was judged by Adam Steppe, of High Steel Industries, and Niles Oehrli, from Moody International.
Pennsylvania College of Technology will host a "Farmer-Buyer Networking Event" March 3 in the college's Thompson Professional Development Center. The daylong event is a project of Valleys of the Susquehanna Buy Fresh Buy Local campaign.

Art and music combine in a fitting arena on Feb. 24 with an afternoon of classical guitar music to kick off "In Perfect Harmony: The Concert Series in The Gallery at Penn College." Alphonse Ciaccio, a 1993 alumnus of Pennsylvania College of Technology, presents the series' inaugural concert in the gallery, on the third floor of the college's Madigan Library, at 2 p.m.
"Public Spaces of Europe," an exhibit of digital photographs by Gary Mesa-Gaido, will be displayed through March 14 in the Gallery at Penn College (Madigan Library, third floor). An opening reception was held Tuesday. Gallery hours are 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday. All exhibits are free and open to the public.
Comedian Jim Breuer, a cast member of NBC's "Saturday Night Live" from 1995-98, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 7, at the Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport.
Two of the country's top media critics will face off March 5 at Pennsylvania College of Technology to address the topic "How the Media Can Sway Votes and Win Elections." The Multicultural Society hosted a Valentine Dinner on Saturday in Penn's Inn. Club members prepared the food with the help of Chef Judy P. Shimp and Fred W. Becker, dean of hospitality. Those who attended said it was a very successful fine-dining experience. The Multicultural Society meets at 3:30 p.m. Thursdays in ACC, Room 219. Members are coordinating a Gospel Concert to take place at 4 p.m.
