About 180 people including 110 Williamsport Technical Institute alumni visited campus Friday during the eighth annual reunion for graduates of Penn College's earliest predecessor. Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Health Sciences recently held two summer camps for high school students interested in exploring a career in a health-care profession: the second annual EMT/Paramedic Camp on June 6-8 and the eighth annual Health Careers Camp from June 11-13.
Area Boy Scouts experienced the outdoor laboratory of Penn College's Schneebeli Earth Science Center during Forestry Youth Camp from June 11-13.
Teams of educators from school districts and career and technology centers across the state are on campus this week for the Governor's Institute on Career Education and Work, facilitated by Penn College's Outreach for K-12 Office. With guidance from experienced mentors, the teams are working to develop strategies to implement the state's Career Education and Work Standards into their curricula.
The School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies held a camp for 20 ninth- and 10th-grade students June 11-13. Campers were introduced to a variety of engineering technology careers by providing: information on engineering technology careers, hands-on workshops, tours of engineering facilities and an opportunity to network with current Penn College students and faculty.
The Williamsport Regional Association of Pilots heldits annual drive-in/fly-in at Penn College's Lumley Aviation Center in Montoursville on Saturday. The Madigan Library's first Rockhounds exhibit a showcase of local, personal collections of rocks, minerals and fossils from Penn College faculty/staff and students was a success! It merited mention in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette on June 6, and, from 10.30 a.m. until the library closed at 9 p.m. June 10, the exhibit brought in 116 visitors (78 adults and 38 children).
With only an occasional sprinkle despite the threat of thunderstorms, Saturday's 25th annual God, Country and Community Flag March carried the event's biggest crowd ever on a crosstown trek to Penn College's main entrance.
Six students from the chimney-sweep and building trades gathered on campus this week for "Advanced Fireplace Construction," intensive hands-on instruction offered through the Pennsylvania Guild of Professional Chimney Sweeps. This is the eighth year for the guild's PA Masonry School program, which is taught by Glenn R.
The "Bears" and "Birds" from Penn College's Children's Learning Center visited the "Rockhounds" exhibit at Madigan Library on Tuesday.
