Ninth- and 10th-graders in this week's Penn College's SMART Girls residential program, an initiative that provides young women the opportunity to experience math and science as a foundation for careers in technology, traveled Tuesday to the Schneebeli Earth Science Center south of main campus.

LeBlanc, instructor of physics, told the stories of "Momotaro, the Peach Boy" and "Ken'ichi and His Magic Pen" Tuesday in The Gallery at Penn College, in conjunction with the "Japan Juxtaposed: Traditional Textiles/Modern Images" exhibit that runs through Aug. 6. LeBlanc lived in Japan for several years.
"Japan Juxtaposed: Traditional Textiles/Modern Images," the first exhibit of the 2008-09 academic year, opened Tuesday in The Gallery at Penn College (Madigan Library, third floor). The exhibit, which fittingly began with a sushi-and-sake reception, features textiles from the personal collection of Joseph E.
A group of North American automotive instructors will gather this month at Pennsylvania College of Technology, home to the industry's oldest continually operating, postsecondary program in the United States.

It is the first of 11 exhibits for the academic year, which represent a wide variety of expression. "Japan Juxtaposed" opens July 8 with a reception in the gallery scheduled for 5-7 p.m.
About 180 people including 110 Williamsport Technical Institute alumni visited campus Friday during the eighth annual reunion for graduates of Penn College's earliest predecessor. Teams of educators from school districts and career and technology centers across the state are on campus this week for the Governor's Institute on Career Education and Work, facilitated by Penn College's Outreach for K-12 Office. With guidance from experienced mentors, the teams are working to develop strategies to implement the state's Career Education and Work Standards into their curricula.
