K-12 educators attended the Outreach for K-12 Office's "Career Pathways in Marcellus Shale" at Penn College on Monday to learn about job opportunities that might be in their students' futures.

Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. Jim Cawley was among those attending a gathering of the Governor's Marcellus Shale Advisory Commission on Penn College's main campus Tuesday evening. The lieutenant governor chairs the commission, which assembled in the Thompson Professional Development Center for dinner, panel presentation, question-and-answer session and group discussion.

A gallery talk and Meet the Artist Reception on Thursday officially opened "Floreal Stratum," a display of textile art by Meredith Setser, in The Gallery at Penn College. Setser's work features large installations primarily composed of handmade and industrial felts printed with traditional processes, such as etching, relief and screen printing.

A Loyalsock Township High School senior who has been active in community service projects throughout her high school years is the 2011 recipient of the Peggy Madigan Memorial Leadership Scholarship at Pennsylvania College of Technology. A selection committee chose Niesha J. Williams to receive this year's award for the scholarship named in memory of the late wife of former state Sen. Roger A.

Penn College welcomed 250 high school students from the 23rd Senatorial District's five counties Thursday, as state Sen. Gene Yaw held his annual Student Government Seminar on campus. The full-day event, begun 26 years ago by Yaw's predecessor, state Sen. Roger A.

More than two dozen high school sophomores and juniors graduated recently from the Pennsylvania College of Technology Youth Leadership Program, a series of team-building exercises and other activities designed to improve communication and build character among select area teenagers.
