The Information Technology Living-Learning Community in Dauphin Hall took part in a social bowling program with faculty at ABC Lanes on Tuesday. About 16 students and three faculty members attended the program and got to socialize with one another outside the classroom in friendly competition.

The free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program is being provided again by Pennsylvania College of Technology students for individuals needing guidance in preparing their 2011 taxes. The VITA program is available through April 2 in the Teachers' Learning Center (Room 213) in the Madigan Library on the college's main campus in Williamsport. Sessions will be scheduled from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

On March 2, the public is invited to view intricately decorated, multitiered cakes created by Pennsylvania College of Technology's baking and pastry arts students. "Butterflies" is the theme for the cakes, which will be displayed as part of a contest developed for the students by an industry leader in the world of wedding cakes. Students have spent about eight weeks of class time on their cakes.

Tickets are available for this year's Murder Mystery Dinner "Big Lies in the Big Easy" set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, in the Mountain Laurel Room of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Thompson Professional Development Center. Prices are $15 for students and $19 for faculty and staff; the event is sponsored by the School of Hospitality's catering class and the Student Activities Office.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's Children's Learning Center received a Keystone Stars Merit Award and a Keystone Stars Education and Retention Award totaling $46,480 for 2011-12. The center uses the funds for staff development, the purchase of toys and furniture for the children, accreditation-related expenses, special health and nutrition activities, and family events.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's Children's Learning Center received continued funding to help provide child care access to parents pursuing higher education at the college. Generally referred to as a "CCAMPIS" grant, which stands for "Child Care Access Means Parents in School," the funding comes from the U.S.

Students in human services classes at Pennsylvania College of Technology hosted two events on campus in November that together raised $4,600 for local and international causes. For the first time, students in the course Service Learning in Sociology organized a Gifts That Give Hope Fair.

Taking the Chef Eugene Mattucci Best of Show Award was a chocolate house made by Alisha M. Howell, a baking and pastry arts student from Waymart.

A new scholarship fund at Pennsylvania College of Technology honoring a Linden-area man and his wife will support students in the college's business administration bachelor-degree majors. The Henry and Donna Stutz Scholarship Fund was established by The Hartman Group, a company consisting of The Hartman Agency Inc., Hartman Employee Benefits Inc.
