Penn College News continues its regular feature, welcoming new full-time and regular part-time Pennsylvania College of Technology employees, as reported by the People & Culture Office.
For over 30 years, its stage has hosted titans of the entertainment industry. Next week, the Journey Bank Community Arts Center will be home to dedicated NCAA Division III student-athletes, who will have their well-deserved turn in the spotlight.
Pennsylvania College of Technology is the recipient of $40,000 in grant funding from the EQT Foundation in support of two initiatives benefiting K-12 students. The money will be split evenly between STEMFest, a hands-on engagement day highlighting technical careers, and the Journey Bank Community Arts Center’s Educational Series, which provides annual arts programming and classroom resources.
The Gallery at Penn College is celebrating the creativity, skill and artistry of the college community with an exhibit titled “Made by Hand: An Exhibition of Tomorrow Makers.” More than 110 pieces of art from 75 students, alumni, retirees, faculty and staff will be on display through Feb. 26.
WNEP-TV’s Mackenzie Aucker visited Penn College’s 55,000-plus-square-foot welding facility on Tuesday to see a new crane in action. Spanco/Promise to Perform Industries Inc. and KAM Industrial Services teamed to donate and install the crane system, located above a Soitaab compuer numerical control plasma cutter.
The Pennsylvania College of Technology coed archery team is scheduled to open its season on Saturday in the Easton Collegiate Trophy Tournament at Manheim.
Pennsylvania College of Technology’s graphic design program has collaborated with the city on a project that explored ways to encourage more people to visit, work and play in and around the Williamsport area. Eighteen graphic design students in the branding class of Nicholas L. Stephenson, instructor of graphic design and co-department head, and Todd True, part-time instructor of graphic design, took on the project of designing brand elements that portray Williamsport as the vibrant arts community it is.
The women’s basketball team posted a 2-0 week, allowing it to move into sole possession of second place in the United East Conference standings. Also, archery season gets underway Saturday, and the athletics department is accepting registrations for its eighth annual Girls and Women in Sports Day Clinic, set for Feb. 8.
Two Pennsylvania College of Technology students have been awarded scholarships totaling $10,000 from the Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery Association Foundation.
Seventeen members of Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Emergency Management Club spent time in New York City in early December to explore the city’s history of emergency management.
