Pennsylvania College of Technology’s fall sports teams went a combined 4-4-1 last week, with the men’s soccer team winning both of its matches.

State Sen. Gene Yaw, chair of the Pennsylvania College of Technology board of directors, recently received the 2025 W. Howard Hartman Little League Friendship Award.

Three members of Penn College’s Pennsylvania Xi Chapter of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society organized a drive to collect first aid items for a medical clinic in Kenya. The students worked diligently to collect thousands of dollars’ worth of items, including thermometers, syringes, gloves, suturing and catheter kits, surgical supplies, stethoscopes and more.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology student is one of a dozen nationwide to receive a scholarship awarded by ESAB Corp. and the American Welding Society Foundation. Clayton J. Fegley, of McClure, earned the $5,000 scholarship through ESAB’s Future Fabricators Program.

The men’s and women’s cross-country teams will begin their seasons at the Dutchmen Invitational on Saturday at Lebanon Valley College. Both teams had a strong 2024 season, with the men repeating as conference champions, and both feature runners from last year’s all-conference teams.

Season five of Penn College’s “Tomorrow Makers” podcast kicked off recently with Kaysey Beury, coordinator of student success solutions in the college’s Michael J. Hudock Sr. Center for Academic Excellence. This conversation, “First-Generation Student Success,” is for all those who want to know more about the support systems available to Penn College students.

The Community Arts Center, owned and operated by Pennsylvania College of Technology, is the recipient of $7,500 from C&N through the Pennsylvania Education Improvement Tax Credit program. The contribution will be used to support the center’s approved Educational Improvement Tax Credit programs.

The women’s tennis team begins its season on Saturday at the King’s College Invitational.

Over the weekend, Penn College Police officer Jeffrey E. Kriner was among local law enforcement personnel taking part in a special back-to-school tradition. He joined officers from the Williamsport Bureau of Police, Pennsylvania State Police and Lycoming County Sherriff’s Office to partner with 10 local students for the third annual “Shop With a Cop” event at Target.

The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League will bring its high-energy youth mountain bike racing back to Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Schneebeli Earth Science Center, across from White Deer Golf Course off of Route 15. The two-day competition – Playin’ at Penn College – is slated for Sept. 6 and 7 and is expected to draw more than 1,400 student-athletes, families and fans.
