Pennsylvania College of Technology was recently awarded a $200,000 Keystone Innovation Grant by the state Department of Community and Economic Development. Following an address in Hershey by Gov. Edward G. Rendell to Keystone Innovation Center stakeholders, Rebecca Bagley, deputy secretary for technology investment for DCED, announced the grant award to Penn College.

Penn College students placed first and third in the second annual Quad College & University Business Plan Challenge, exiting the Community Theatre League with a total of $15,000 in prize money Tuesday afternoon. Corey M. Weems, a manufacturing engineering technology major from Williamsport, was awarded the $10,000 grand prize, and Matthew L.

The Plastics Manufacturing Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently began a pilot program to certify employees in Pennsylvania's plastics industry through a special programs contract in cooperation with the Central Pennsylvania Workforce Development Corp., Lewisburg. The contract is part of a Plastics Initiatives Grant authorized by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.

The Ninth Annual Extrusion Seminar and Hands-On Workshop featuring extrusion expert Chris Rauwendaal, of Rauwendaal Extrusion Engineering Inc., Auburn, Calif., and extrusion instructor Kirk M. Cantor, professor of plastics and polymer technology at Pennsylvania College of Technology will be held July 31 to Aug. 2 at Penn College.

The next Medical Assistant class at Pennsylvania College of Technology's North Campus, located three miles east of Wellsboro, is scheduled to begin in April. An information session is planned for 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27. The session will allow participants to ask questions about applying to the program, employment opportunities and financial aid.

New technology for law enforcement and a tracking device for lost seniors and children have been honored in this year's "Big Idea" business-plan competition. Classes for Introduction to Medical Billing and Coding will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings, Feb. 6 to May 1.

The Plastics Manufacturing Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology has acquired a Datapaq Rotomolding Telemetry System to help its Rotational Molding Center of Excellence advance the rotational molding process industry.
