Pennsylvania College of Technology's Plastics Manufacturing Center, in conjunction with the Plastics and Polymer Technology Department at the college, will host a grand opening for its Thermoforming Center of Excellence on April 7, marking the completion of nearly two years of renovating and equipping the new state-of-the-art plastics program facility.

The School of Health Sciences and Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology are offering a noncredit course designed to provide licensed dental hygienists with the required knowledge and skills to administer local anesthesia in clinical settings.

Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology has joined forces with ClickSafety Inc. to offer noncredit safety classes online. The offerings from the college and the Alamo, Calif.-based firm enable businesses to provide safety training for their employees regardless of their location or the number of workers who are participating.

Sixty-five people, representing 30 plastics companies, made a visit to Penn College's campus Oct. 22 for an Extrusion Minitec (a mini technical conference). The program was a joint effort of the Society of Plastics Engineers and the college.

Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology will offer a noncredit Professional Development Certificate course on Wednesdays, Oct. 21 through Nov. 25, for those who wish to improve their on-the-job relationship, problem-solving and time-management skills. Classes will be held from 1 to 4 p.m.

Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology will offer an Introduction to Social Networking for Business workshop on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The noncredit workshop will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Center for Business & Workforce Development on the main campus in Williamsport. The cost is $20, which includes a light lunch.

The Plastics Manufacturing Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology ­ partnering with A. Routsis Associates Inc. and Mid-Atlantic Plastics Partners Inc. recently conducted a pilot training program to certify employees in Pennsylvania's plastics industry.

C. Hank White, director of the Plastics Manufacturing Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently accepted the 2009 Society of Plastics Engineers Gold Pinnacle Award on behalf of SPE's Rotational Molding Division. SPE divisions are technical groups organized around a specific process or application in the plastics industry.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's Plastics Manufacturing Center held its 11th Annual Extrusion Seminar & Hands-On Workshop on the college's campus in early June.
