Pennsylvania College of Technology archers Zachary Plannick and Glen Thomas, representing the United States in the 25th World University Games in Belgrade, Serbia, made their mark during qualifying Wednesday. Plannick, of Coraopolis, who will be a junior in the fall, qualified 19th in a field of 44 in the men's individual compound ranking round with a score of 678.
When archery competition begins at the 2009 Summer World University Games in Belgrade, Serbia, Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport will have two faces in the crowd. After nine seasons that included six consecutive conference championships and an incredible win streak that reached 155 matches from 2003-08, Pennsylvania College of Technology golf coach Chet Schuman is retiring. But he passes the torch to someone very familiar with the program. The college announced Thursday that Matt Haile has been named to succeed Schuman.
For the second season in a row, Penn College baseball coach Chris Howard has been named the Penn State University Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. During the recently completed season, Howard guided the Wildcats to a 28-3 PSUAC record and their second straight conference championship. Overall, Penn College was 36-9. "I'm excited.
