A second-year forest technology student at Pennsylvania College of Technology is in contention for a spot on the 2008 U.S. Olympic boxing team. Anthony J. Tettis, of Ridgway, defeated Dorset Barnwell on Feb. 11 to win the heavyweight division of the U.S. Eastern Regional Boxing Championship in Pennsauken, N.J.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology student is among only 10 national recipients of a Clifford H. "Ted" Rees Jr. Scholarship from the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute. Shawn A. Wasielewski, of Easton, majoring in building automation technology-HVAC, will receive $2,000 for the Spring 2007 semester.

On-campus internships in Le Jeune Chef Restaurant, operated by the School of Hospitality at Pennsylvania College of Technology, give culinary arts students the chance to exercise their inventiveness as they work with the kitchen's professional staff. Patrice M. Campbell, a business administration-marketing major from Montoursville, has been chosen as the Student Government Association's "Student of the Month" for February.

Penn College students who have been in the military maynowreceive a fitness elective credit for their basic training, provided the training has taken place within the past 10 years. Students with military service would need to submit a transcript to the Admissions Office from the American Council on Education stating that the training has been evaluated.

New associate-degree students majoring in plastics and polymer technology at Pennsylvania College of Technology are eligible to receive $2,500 per semester up to a total of $5,000 toward the cost of their education, courtesy of the Pennsylvania Plastics Initiative Scholarship Program.
