As part of the efforts to promote recycling and Penn College's participation in the national Recyclemania competition, residents of each of the on-campus apartment complexes painted a recycling promotional billboard to be displayed over the coming weeks. The purpose of the billboards is to remind residents to recycle.

A second-year landscape/nursery technology student at Pennsylvania College of Technology was one of seven students to receive scholarships at the 2008 Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery Conference held Feb. 13 in State College. Melissa D. Berrier, of Mifflin scheduled to graduate in May was awarded a PLNA Foundation Scholarship from the Pennsylvania Landscape & Nursery Association.

Residents of the Rose Street Apartments enjoyed free pizza, drinks and snacks (supplied by Residence Life) and learned about issues facing college students who choose to be sexually active at a "Pizza and Condoms Party" held during Sexual Awareness Week. Resident Assistant Melissa Dobson created a unique way to meet her residents and inform them of the dangers of irresponsible sexual activity.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's aviation department held its SkillsUSA state finals this week, advancing a student Neil F. Baughman, of Hershey to national competition. In spite of bad weather, the event took place from 4-8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the sheet-metal laboratory at the college's Lumley Aviation Center in Montoursville.
