Pennsylvania College of Technology's Plastics Manufacturing Center, in conjunction with the Plastics and Polymer Technology Department at the college, will host a grand opening for its Thermoforming Center of Excellence on April 7, marking the completion of nearly two years of renovating and equipping the new state-of-the-art plastics program facility.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's Student Government Association invites the Williamsport community to its Silent Auction from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, in Penn's Inn, located on the second floor of the Bush Campus Center. Items up for bid include packages, artwork, services and various other donations from community businesses and Penn College students, faculty and staff.

Students from Pennsylvania College of Technology and four other institutions will compete when the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Woodsmen's Meet returns to the college's Schneebeli Earth Science Center on April 17. Participants will compete in a dozen event categories from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., including archery, ax throw, crosscut saw, log roll, pulp toss, pole fell, chain saw and speed chop.

The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, will host "Prints and Drawings," featuring work by Lauren Schiller and Tom Baker, from April 6 to May 2. Baker's prints are composed of numerous layers generated from drawings, photographs, fabric patterns and the like, and they make use of recurring personal imagery.

"Concrete's Role in Sustainable Development,"detailing how concrete plays an integralpart in green building design and construction, will be presented at 3:30 p.m. April 6 in the Klump Academic CenterAuditorium. The guest speaker for the event, which is organized byDrew R. Potts, instructor of civil engineering technology at Penn College, will be Philip W.

Heralded by the morning chill's evaporation into a glorious burst of spring, Open House was held across Pennsylvania College of Technology campuses from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Helpful and friendly members of the college community were on hand to answer visitors' questions and to guide prospective enrollees and their families to their preferred locations.

A motorcycle rally, a new addition to Pennsylvania College of Technology's annual "Walk-It-Out" benefit for the American Cancer Society, will be held Saturday, April 17. The Wildcat Events Board is sponsoring the ride, which will begin at 10 a.m.

On April 10, Pennsylvania College of Technology will host a session for girls in seventh and eighth grades to encourage an ongoing interest in science and math. The college's Science and Math Applications in Real-World Technologies (SMART Girls) project was developed to counter the distressing tendency of girls to sidestep math and sciences as they enter adolescence.

A number of Penn College students were on hand for the eighth annual Kid's Day at the Peter J. McGovern Little League Museum in South Williamsport on Saturday.

Career Services staff served well over 200 students at the Career Fair pre-event activities held Tuesday at Penn's Inn. The event, which included free food, fun and great conversation, kicked off a series of activities that will culminate in the March 23-24 Career Fair.
