The School of Health Sciences offered an in-service for its clinical preceptors April 9. Darby Lewes, an English faculty member at Lycoming College, offered a workshop titled "Portrait of a Student as a Young Wolf: Motivating Students." The school offers the in-service annually to its preceptors, who can earn continuing education units for their attendance.

Penn College's Student Government Association held a silent auction from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Wednesday in Penn's Inn. All of the proceeds from the event,collected from bids on the many items donated by members of the college community,will be added to the Student Leader Legacy Scholarship Fund .

The Sigma Nu fraternity raised $300 for Penn College's Walk-It-Out benefit, holding a Chili Cook-Off in the atrium of the Breuder Advanced Technology and Health Sciences Center from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday. For a donation to the American Cancer Society, participants such as Keith M. Saboski, student activities assistant (at rear left)could sample a variety of chili and vote for their favorite.

On Tuesday, April 27, the Cisco Networking Academy at Penn College will host the Cisco Systems Network on Wheels. The newly refreshed NOW van has received a complete technology facelift. The entire architecture has been rebuilt to showcase the latest and most comprehensive Cisco solutions.

Pennsylvania College of Technology will host an April 24 session to encourage a continuing interest in science and math by 10th- and 11th-grade girls. Penn College's Science and Math Applications in Real-World Technologies (SMART Girls) project was developed to counter girls' worrisome tendency to shun math and the sciences as they move through their crucial high school years.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Penn College Resident Assistants hosted a Spring Fair at the Campbell Street Community Center. RAs conducted activities that included face-painting, duck pond, bowling, hula-hoop contest, treat walk, coloring table, Play-Doh table, egg-dyeing, ball toss and more. The event was open to the public and drew a number of participants from the community.

The International Programs Office, Cultural Life Committee and Multicultural Society hosted a student reception from 5-8 p.m. March 16 in Penn's Inn. The reception was held to gather international students, students from the Multicultural Society and others in the campus community who are involved in programs that support Penn College students from other countries.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's Plastics Manufacturing Center, in conjunction with the Plastics and Polymer Technology Department at the college, will host a grand opening for its Thermoforming Center of Excellence on April 7, marking the completion of nearly two years of renovating and equipping the new state-of-the-art plastics program facility.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's Student Government Association invites the Williamsport community to its Silent Auction from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, in Penn's Inn, located on the second floor of the Bush Campus Center. Items up for bid include packages, artwork, services and various other donations from community businesses and Penn College students, faculty and staff.

Students from Pennsylvania College of Technology and four other institutions will compete when the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Woodsmen's Meet returns to the college's Schneebeli Earth Science Center on April 17. Participants will compete in a dozen event categories from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., including archery, ax throw, crosscut saw, log roll, pulp toss, pole fell, chain saw and speed chop.
