Sexual Responsibility Week, sponsored by Student Health Services, will be held from Feb. 14-18 at various locations across campus. A complete schedule of events for the week which kicks off next Monday in the lobbies of the Bush Campus Center, Hager Lifelong Education Center and Breuder Advanced Technology and Health Sciences Center is available online.
This week marks the beginning of Black History Month. Student Activities' full lineup of events includes a Town Hall discussion on the impact of rap music, the Cure the Blues music festival, movie screenings of Tyler Perry's "For Colored Girls" and much more. From noon-2 p.m. Thursday, Penn College hosted Katharine "Kat" Kan, a recognized expert selector and reviewer of graphic novels.
"That Takes Ovaries," relating real-life stories from courageous women the world over, was held Monday in Penn's Inn.
The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, will host "Auto Response," an exhibit of sculptures and paintings by artist Jeff Mann, from Feb. 8 to March 4. Mann's current work is informed by what he considers to be the single greatest American icon: the car.
As Friday night headed toward early Saturday, students whiled away the hours in a variety of activities, thanks to the Wildcat Events Board and the Inter-Fraternity Council. The "WEB Late Night" event held in the Bush Campus Center included bingo, water pong, crafts, open pool, music, free food and drinks, and prizes.
Penn College hosted District 6 SkillsUSA competitions Friday on its main campus, where vocational students from a number of area high schools went head-to-head in six hands-on categories.
Le Jeune Chef Restaurant will host grand reopening events on Feb. 1-2 to show off its redecorated dining room. The new design reflects the School of Hospitality's more natural, organic approach to menu planning. "It started with us planting our own garden," said Layne E. Eggers, assistant dean of hospitality.
With a mix of fun and informational events on campus and in other community locations including music, movies and fanciful faculty presentations Pennsylvania College of Technology will be part of a "Harry Potter's World" exhibit from Feb. 13 through March 26. The majority of Penn College activities will take place in Madigan Library, where a reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb.
The Financial Aid Office at Pennsylvania College of Technology will offer free sessions on the main campus in Williamsport in February and March to help students, prospective students and families understand how to complete the 2011-12 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
