Among the huge assembly of people required to welcome 20 teams and around 300,000 fans to the Little League Baseball World Series in South Williamsport are Pennsylvania College of Technology students and staff. Baking and culinary students and staff from the college’s Le Jeune Chef Restaurant are set to prepare meals for the competing teams, while paramedic students will help provide for the emergency medical needs of the thousands of spectators who attend each of the nationally televised series’ 38 games.

The campus opened its labs to middle schoolers during two sessions of My Tomorrow, a Penn College summer camp that helps participants preview a variety of careers. Fifty-five campers attended the sold-out events.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has appointed Chenchen Huang dean of the School of Business, Arts & Sciences. Huang, who has more than 15 years’ experience in higher education, comes to Penn College from Frostburg State University, where he was an assistant professor and chairperson of the accounting department.

Beginning this week, the capstone beer of a May brewing & fermentation science grad is on tap at Jackass Brewing Co.’s two locations (Williamsport and Lewisburg). Adrien Duran, of Lewisburg, became the company’s first and only intern this spring as part of his brewing & fermentation science studies at the college.

Three Pennsylvania College of Technology educators presented at two conferences hosted simultaneously by the Pennsylvania State Education Association at The Penn Stater Hotel and Conference Center. Kaysey L. Beury, coordinator of student success solutions; Jennifer R. Wahl, instructor of social sciences; and Craig A. Miller, professor of history/political science and department head of social sciences and humanities, delivered engaging workshops.
