Eighteen graduating seniors from Pennsylvania College of Technology’s architecture & sustainable design major will showcase their work in “Architecture & Sustainable Design: Senior Capstone Projects,” on display May 16-19 in The Gallery at Penn College. A reception for the exhibit is set for 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, May 16, in the gallery on the third floor of The Madigan Library.

The donation of a Redline conveyor system by Dyco Inc. is enhancing the education of mechatronics students at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Valued at $71,500, Dyco’s commitment includes a 9-foot incline conveyor, custom mounting brackets and about 100 feet of conveyance equipment used to move snack-size candy bars around the mechatronics lab.

Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat. Athletics and Alumni Relations welcomed 45 alumni soccer players, who returned to the Penn College campus to rekindle and re-kick that competitive spirit.

There’s always something intriguing going on at Penn College’s campuses, and one calm-weather day in April unfolded a controlled burn for the benefit of forest technology students and the Schneebeli Earth Science Center woodlands.

“It’s poetry in motion.” Former high school football coach Chuck Crews may have been referring to his beloved sport with those words, but they could also describe his activities as Penn College’s assistant director of secondary partnerships. A longtime advocate of applied technology education is donating $8,000 to empower area high school students taking college-credit courses via Pennsylvania College of Technology. PPL Electric Utilities has made the financial commitment through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program to support Penn College Dual Enrollment.

“Building Resilience – Making Positive Changes” was the theme of the fourth annual Wildcat Wellness Fair, hosted recently by students enrolled in the Clinical Psychology class, Counseling Services and Student Engagement. The healthy and healing hands-on happening featured a range of Penn College student organizations and services – all aiming to uplift, encourage and de-stress students during the busy spring season.

A showcase of student artwork and creative development was celebrated this past Friday with a reception honoring 12 talented graphic design students in their final semester of study at Penn College. “Graphic Design 2025” runs through Friday, May 9, in The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of The Madigan Library.

Chef Charles R. Niedermyer, instructor of baking and pastry arts/culinary arts at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was recently a workshop presenter during Salon du Chocolat NYC, held in New York City’s Javits Center. Established in 1994 in Paris, Salon du Chocolat is the largest international trade show dedicated to the chocolate and cocoa industry. With exhibitors from 16 countries, it attracts more than 6,000 attendees.

Can you survive a month in poverty? That was the key question at a recent Community Action Poverty Simulation explored by Penn College students in various majors in the School of Nursing & Health Sciences and School of Business, Arts & Sciences. Poverty simulations have been held at the college since Spring 2019, but the Spring 2025 event was the first to cast a wider net of cross-curricular collaboration.
