Vol. 8, No. 38 (Through Sunday, May 2) Penn College Wildcat Tales Pennsylvania College of Technology's softball team placed third and its baseball team fourth during Penn State University Athletic Conference playoffs over the weekend. The softball team went 1-2 in games at Nittany Lion Field in State College to close out a 14-13 campaign overall, 11-8 in all conference games.

Under abundant sunshine, the Penn College colony of Sigma Nu held its second annual Spring Car Show fundraiser on campus Saturday,featuring music, food and dozens of vehicles on the BTC parking lot. Proceeds from the fraternity event benefit the Sigma Nu Leadership Initiatives Fund, which sponsors campus leadership events; trophies were awarded in 18 classes of cars, trucks and motorcycles.

A grant-funded student project at Pennsylvania College of Technology is bringing today's "green" sensitivity to a campus landmark that celebrates Williamsport's lumber prominence in the 1800s. An array of photovoltaic panels has been installed just southwest of the college's Victorian House, a student-designed-and-built guest facility that was dedicated in June 1997.

The Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors bade farewell to two members Craig D. Weidemann and Birch B. Phillips Jr. at Thursday's meeting. About 40 students in the Equipment Operation/Maintenance Technology program at the Venango Technology Center in Oil City got an extensive tour of Penn College's Schneebeli Earth Science Center on Thursday. The high school students and their instructor, Mike Irwin, visited the heavy equipment training site, led by Ryan W. Peck, laboratory assistant for diesel equipment technology.

John J. Romano, vice president for commonwealth campuses at The Pennsylvania State University, and Steven P. Johnson, president and CEO of Susquehanna Health, have been appointed to the Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors. Romano and Johnson both will take their seats on the board in June. They were appointed by the Corporation for Penn State.
