With wins in three of its four regular-season outings this fall, and a second-place finish in the other, the Pennsylvania College of Technology golf team is poised to regain the supremacy it had when it captured six straight conference championships from 2003 through 2008.

The first quarter of Friday's Powder Puff Football Game started off much better for the upper-class women than it did for the guys the previous night ... but, as intramural assistant Jeremy R. Bottorf notes, there is a reason why four quarters are played. Maggie Calkins connected on a pass to Jenna Harner to put the upperclassmen on the verge of scoring early in the first quarter.

The first-ever Freshmen vs. Upperclassman Flag Football game turned into a dream for the freshmen and a huge nightmare for the upperclassmen, according to this game summary from intramural assistant Jeremy R. When you postpone nearly as many sporting events as you play, you know the weather probably is not cooperating. That was the case last week for Pennsylvania College of Technology teams as they posted nine wins and had one loss in events played, but lost seven others to rain.

Nearly 200 fans dressed in pink Thursday night to support the Penn College Lady Wildcats volleyball team and help raise awareness of breast cancer. The game was sponsored by Health Services and the Off-Campus Housing Organization. OCHO provided fun games and free pink cotton candy to all the fans.

Freshman Melissa Lake (Winburne) was named the Penn State University Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 18. In a 2-0 week for the Wildcats, Lake notched 15 kills, five aces and six digs, including a season-high 14 kills against Penn State Wilkes-Barre. Lake is having a solid rookie season with 65 kills, 14 digs and eight blocks.

Other than a women's volleyball win and second-place finish by the golf team, it was a tough week for Pennsylvania College of Technology fall sports teams as the men's and women's soccer squads each went 0-2 and the coed tennis team 0-1.

Visitors to Saturday's portion of Parent & Family Weekend engaged in friendly competition outside the Field House during the Intramural Family Spectacular at Penn College. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the campus community is encouraged to show its support at the Penn College Pink Outs. The women's volleyball team, which held its second annual Pink Out Tie-Dye event Wednesday, didn't expect the crowd that showed up to helpheighten awareness.

Freshman Corey Teeple (Lake Ariel) was named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 18. Teeple shot a 74 on a par 72 to place first at the Penn State Mont Alto Invitational at Penn National Golf Course and help the Penn College golf team to the top spot. This is Teeple's first USCAA honor of the year and of his career.
