The Outdoor Adventure Club spent part of Saturday helping to maintain the Loyalsock Trail. Kyle Godfrey, club treasurer, arranged with local volunteers to acquire the tools needed and pinpoint areas where the 54-mile trail needed attention. OAC members hiked 2.5 miles of the trail with loppers and saws in hand, cutting back growth that had started to overtake the trail.

Students in Pennsylvania College of Technology's radiography program will contribute to the celebration of National Radiologic Technology Week, Nov. 5-11, by creating educational posters and displaying them in hospitals where they perform clinical rotations.

Members of SkillsUSA's Penn College chapter showed their community spirit on Oct. 14, participating in community service for SouthernCare. Activities included washing windows and yardwork for a local family. SkillsUSA is a national organization that provides a landscape of competitions in various occupational fields. Once a year, members compete at the state level and, if successful, nationally.

Kaitlin M. Shellenberger was announced as September's "Member of the Month" at Phi Beta Lambda'sOct. 10 meeting. Shellenberger, a pre-nursing major from Roaring Branch, regularly attends meetings and participates with fund-raisers and activities while handling her studies. Her reward was a Penn College Gift Bag filled with a college car sticker, keychain and lanyard, and a 1GB thumb drive.

Nine Penn College students, led by Cassie M. Pickens, Student Activities' assistant director for programming, took part in a community-service project at the Williamsport YWCA on Saturday afternoon. Despite more than a touch of fall in the air, the group rolled up its collective sleeves to repaint driveway and parking-lot lines, among other maintenance at the 815 W. Fourth St. facility.

The second annual Quad College and University Business Plan Challenge is open to full- or part-time students at Pennsylvania College of Technology, Lycoming College, Mansfield University and Lock Haven University. This is an excellent opportunity for students to sharpen business skills, refine business concepts, get feedback from business experts, build resumes and possibly win cash prizes.
