The New Choices/New Options program, a free career-development workshop at Pennsylvania College of Technology, will offer a new session beginning Sept. 26. The workshop will meet Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from Sept. 26 to Oct. 19 on Penn College's main campus in Williamsport.

The Williamsport Hospital Campus of Susquehanna Health System is awarding Fall 2006 scholarships to 21 students at Pennsylvania College of Technology who were born at Williamsport Hospital. The hospital awards two full-tuition scholarships annually one to a female student and one to a male student enrolled in a School of Health Sciences major at Penn College.

Four members of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Phi Beta Lambda chapter and their adviser attended the 2006 National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tenn., from June 23-28 two of them placing in the top 10 of their respective competition categories. Garry L.

Robert G. Steward, a culinary arts technology student from Williamsport, teamed up with children attending day camp at Bruce E. Henry Park in Loyalsock Township on Thursday to make Rice Krispies "lizards." Steward and Frederick W. Becker, dean of hospitality, offered students their expertise about cooking and about hospitality careers.

Forty-eight students are taking part in the Summer PLUS 2006 program offered by Academic Support Services through July 21. In addition to the academic component of the program, the students are involved in college-preparation activities such as Project Success and Learning Communities. On Friday, they performed community service at Sycamore Manor, where they helped with a multitude of chores.

Three Pennsylvania College of Technology students placed in the Top 10 in their respective categories during the national SkillsUSA Championships held June 17-23 in Kansas City, Mo. Matthew A. A field trip for students enrolled in an English as a Second Language program got off to an exciting start May 26. The group was traveling on Route 87 toward a hiking trip at World's End State Park when they noticed a man had fallen from a roof. All four of the students hail from Saudi Arabia and are enrolled in preparatory courses before entering the college's pre-paramedic program.

The first Honors Program study-abroad venture concluded Monday, when four students returned from a two-week tour of Sweden and Latvia. The group studied the culture and maritime traditions of those nations in support of their program theme, "The Maritime World," and traveled extensively by boat including two 17-hour ferry transits from Sweden to Latvia.
