The IEEE student branch at Pennsylvania College of Technology attended the 2009 IEEE Student Activities Conference hosted by Youngstown University in Ohio, where it took second place in one of various intercollegiate competitions.

Three sophomores and two graduates in the aviation maintenance technology major at Penn College attended the 2009 Heli-Expo held Feb. 22-24 in Anaheim, Calif.. Attending were students Nathaniel A. Seacat, Lititz; Joshua E. Swanger, Northumberland; and Miles H. Weston, Newport, Va.; and alumni Wesley C. Miller, Reading, and Daniel C. Fantoni, Nottingham.

In celebration of Occupational Therapy Month, students enrolled in the occupational therapy assistant major offered a poster session Tuesday in the Madigan Library.

Five Pennsylvania College of Technology students and a faculty mentor recently volunteered to landscape the surroundings of the Williamsport YWCA, part of a national day of service organized by the trade organization that accredits the college's horticulture majors. Pennsylvania College of Technology's 2008-09 Student Activities Awards banquet, a night "filled with rewards, recognition and flavorsome food" dedicated to student leaders and organizations, was held Wednesday in Penn's Inn. The evening included awarding of a $1,000 Student Leadership Legacy Scholarship to Justin A. Ball, of Sandy Ridge, a business administration: management major.

Just days from its Thursday deadline and impressively at 85 percent of its lofty goal, a Penn College student organization got a pep talk from Williamsport Mayor Gabriel J. Campana as it continues its food drive to aid the area's needy. The mayor attended a Students in Free Enterprise meeting, applauding the group for working so diligently for the economic betterment of its neighbors.

Winners in the You Be the Judge competition, in which the Penn College community was enlisted to choose among the eye-catching craftsmanship of students in the School of Construction and Design Technologies' masonry emphasis, have been announced. Eight members of the Pennsylvania College of Technology Colony of Sigma Nu fraternity recently contributed several hours' work to a local Habitat for Humanity project. Volunteering at a property on Mahaffey Street in the Newberry section of Williamsport, the crew worked with drywall and sealed holes in the ceiling where electrical and plumbing had been installed. The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, will host a student portfolio exhibit April 30-May 7. Sixteen students will exhibit more than 160 pieces of work they created during their studies toward earning bachelor's degrees in graphic design.

Representatives from the state Department of Education: Veterans/Military Education Division will be on hand May 4 at Pennsylvania College of Technology to present the most up-to-date information about the Post-9/11 GI Bill-Chapter 33. The free session will provide details about the education benefits available to those who are serving or who have served in the military.
