More than 30 new Penn College students, some of whom have been out of the classroom for decades, received a comprehensive (and reassuring) introduction to campus resources Tuesday from a variety of employees invested in their success. The students are enrolled under Trade Adjustment Assistance, which aids workers who lose their jobs to foreign imports.

The Gallery at Penn College held an opening reception and gallery talk Tuesday evening for the student portfolio exhibit on display through May 7. Students in the ornamental horticulture: landscape technology major at Pennsylvania College of Technology's Schneebeli Earth Science Center constantly are working on projects that add lasting interest and beauty to the Allenwood-area campus. One such project, the Idea Garden, will combine several unique landscaping ideas and design features.

Fundraising efforts by Pennsylvania College of Technology's Student Government Association have resulted in another scholarship award for a returning student. Justin A. Ball, of Sandy Ridge, accepted the Student Leader Legacy Scholarship award at the 2008-09 Student Activities Awards Banquet on April 29. Ball is a graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola Senior High School.

A team of 14 Pennsylvania College of Technology students finished third overall and placed in 12 categories at the recent Mid-Atlantic States Intercollegiate Woodsmen's Meet at Allegany College of Maryland.
