Pennsylvania College of Technology has presented student achievement awards to its August 2013 graduates. A Summer Commencement ceremony was held Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Community Arts Center, Williamsport. The award winners, their hometowns and academic majors are: President’s Award, presented for leadership and service to the college: Katherine P.

Seventy-five students enrolled in physician assistant, paramedic technology and emergency medical services majors at Pennsylvania College of Technology will serve at the 2013 Little League Baseball World Series, which attracts teams and fans from around the world and runs Aug. 15-25.

Women from the campus community are welcome to attend a free self-defense workshop, part of a Penn College student's internship at the James V. Brown Library, to be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Aug. 15-16 in the library's Lowry Theatre. The event was organized by Bethany M. Reppert, an applied human services major from Pottsville, whose internship capstone involves presenting a program for adults.

Area health care providers and emergency responders, part-time Penn College faculty, and alumni shared their insights with students and others during Thursday visits to main campus. The day began at around 8:30 a.m., when pilot Eric Smith landed Geisinger Health System's Life Flight 4 helicopter on the Madigan Library lawn.

Two Pennsylvania College of Technology graphic design students recently won awards at the district level of the American Advertising Federation’s ADDY awards. In the federation’s District 2 student competition, junior Erin M. Schlessinger, of Lock Haven, won a gold ADDY for her “FreeRice.com” ad campaign and a silver ADDY for her “Cocktails and Croquet” event invitation. Michael A.

Students in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s electronics and computer engineering technology major recently entered projects in the IEEE Region 2 Student Activities Conference, bringing home a second-place finish. Anthony R. Cherone, of Dover, and Daniel R. Sullivan, of Winfield, teamed to build a robot that finished second in the conference’s Micromouse Competition.
