Students in Concrete Construction classes have spent the semester practicing their craft through real-world challenges – meanwhile helping the college and the community.

A contingent of Penn College business and hospitality students – along with faculty and Le Jeune Chef staff – left campus Monday morning and traveled by bus to Louisville, Kentucky, where they’ll spend the week serving VIP guests at Churchill Downs as activities get under way leading up to the Kentucky Derby on May 2.

At 13-4 overall – and tying its most successful regular season in program history, a record set a year ago – the Penn College men’s lacrosse team finds itself in a familiar position as it heads into the United East Conference playoffs for the sixth consecutive season under coach Jordan Williams.

The golf team made it four in a row United East Conference Championship titles, men’s and women’s tennis advanced to the conference semifinals, and the lacrosse and softball teams went undefeated last week.

Thirteen Pennsylvania College of Technology landscape/plant production technology students recently attended the 50th annual National College Landscape Competition at Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. During the event, Cale M. Rice, of Julian, was awarded a $1,000 Joe Palimeno Family Scholarship.

“Graphic Design 2026” opens Thursday, April 30, at The Gallery at Penn College and runs through May 8. The exhibition showcases the work of graduating seniors in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s graphic design major. An opening reception is set for 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 1. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.

In honor of Arbor Day – officially observed on April 24 – students in forestry and landscape/plant production majors planted trees at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center and in Williamsport. And Earth Day – observed internationally each year on April 22 – was celebrated by Earth Science Center programs by planting trees and moving earth.

Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the only international honor society for computing and information disciplines, welcomed six students and one faculty member to the Pennsylvania College of Technology chapter during a recent induction ceremony.

This season, Penn College tennis teams have had unprecedented success, and third-year coach David Straub is hopeful that it continues on Saturday as both of his squads enter the United East Conference playoffs seeded third.

The Pennsylvania College of Technology chapters of two collegewide national honor societies held induction ceremonies on April 11, recognizing 104 new members for their academic achievements.
