A home on Fifth Avenue hosted its first backyard picnic to close out the first of two years of service learning at the site. The Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity home is being built largely by Penn College students on land donated by the college. The three-bedroom structure, started in Fall 2024 and expected to be completed in Spring 2026, will provide a safe, sustainable home for a deserving family.

“The Road to Baja SAE Williamsport – Extended Director’s Cut,” a Pennsylvania College of Technology video that chronicles the school’s journey for Baja SAE Williamsport, has won a silver Telly Award in the 46th international competition that honors excellence in video and television across all screens.

On the threshold of their graduation from Pennsylvania College of Technology, 18 architecture & sustainable design seniors showcased their four years of intensive study in “Architecture & Sustainable Design: Senior Capstone Projects.” Well-wishers and interested onlookers packed The Gallery at Penn College on May 16 for the exhibit’s reception and heard from the designers and their faculty mentors.

Among the many end-of-academic-year events held at Pennsylvania College of Technology, induction ceremonies were conducted by the chapters of two honor societies – Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Chi. A total of 118 new honor society members were recognized.

The campus community and wider community are reminded of the inaugural Williamsport Main Street Torch Run, set for 5:30 to 7 p.m., Wednesday. Carrying the Special Olympics Flame of Hope, the run begins at Lycoming College and ends at Penn College with a pep rally at the Davie Jane Gilmour Center patio and parking lot, under the large American flag at Penn College's entrance.

Downtown Williamsport and the Pennsylvania College of Technology campus were teeming with joyful graduates and guests, as the college held its three Spring 2025 commencement ceremonies May 16-17 at the Community Arts Center. Nearly 750 students marched in the ceremonies, with approximately 885 having petitioned to graduate. Students in a Pennsylvania College of Technology course that focuses on the history of psychology recently visited Austria and England, where they experienced the cultures and regions that gave birth to the science of the mind and the practice of Western-based counseling and therapy. Eleven students, joined by two faculty members, explored some of the first psychological laboratories and hospitals and toured the homes of pioneering theorists.

Pennsylvania College of Technology presented faculty and staff with a variety of awards and recognized employees who have achieved noteworthy milestones as the 2024-25 academic year concludes. President Michael J. Reed celebrated the honorees during a May 15 all-college meeting in the Klump Academic Center Auditorium.

About 160 middle school students recently experienced the promise of careers rooted in science, technology, engineering and math during the second annual STEMFest at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The students – representing schools from Clinton, Lycoming, Northumberland and Tioga counties – engaged in a series of hands-on activities, ranging from concrete science to robotics. Supported by a grant from the EQT Foundation, the workshops were led by Penn College faculty and staff.

For the 10th year, Pennsylvania College of Technology has received notification of its Tree Campus Higher Education designation, and students marked the milestone by planting crabapple trees at the college’s Schneebeli Earth Science Center.
