A series of fun and informative events have been planned at Pennsylvania College of Technology in celebration of Constitution Day (Saturday, Sept.

Park Place, the former Park Home/Herdic Hotel, at Campbell and West Fourth streets, will celebrate its 140th anniversary this weekend. "The trouble begins" at 7:30 p.m.

Mayor Mary B. Wolf has proclaimed the first week in September as "College Town Week," officially kicking off a celebration ofWilliamsport's centers of higher learning.

Students looking for a way to get involved on campus had a varied menu of options at the annual Student Organization Fair, held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Bush Campus Center.

The Gallery at Penn College on the main campus of Pennsylvania College of Technology will host "Urban," a collection of artwork by Kirk Pedersen,Aug. 30throughSept. 23. An opening reception will take placeAug. 30from 3:30 to 6 p.m., with an artist's talk scheduled at 4 p.m. in Penn's Inn on the second floor of the Bush Campus Center. Both the opening and the talk are free and open to the public.

Fall 2005 Orientation culminated in a "Penn College Welcome" event on main campus Sunday night, offering the academic community a last dose of summer fun before Monday's start of classes. Students heard remarks from Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour; Student Government Association President Sabrena O'Keefe; and Chester D. Schuman, director of admissions.

More than 500 new Penn College students started the day Saturday with the "Safari Breakfast" event. Students were served breakfast in the Susquehanna Room, then were invited to visit the BTC hallway, which had been transformed into a jungle/safari environment.

Drop/Add and Late Registration were held Monday in the Student and Administrative Services Center. During those periods, academic school offices were on hand in the Student and Administrative Services Center to answer questions from registered students processing schedule changes via the Web.

The Association for Avionics Education will hold its 2005 conference at Pennsylvania College of Technology from Oct. 27-28. "The AAE conference is the only forum where those who teach avionics and related subjects can communicate, publish and present," noted Thomas D. Inman, associate professor of avionics at Penn College.

A total of 190 students have petitioned to graduate in August from Pennsylvania College of Technology, which will hold a Summer Commencement ceremony at 11 a.m. Aug. 6 at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport. The student speaker will be Tim D. Case of Williamsport, who will receive an associate's degree in paramedic technology.
