Penn College President Davie Jane Gilmour held the first in a planned series ofopen forums in the PDC Mountain Laurel Room on Tuesday. The session with no prepared remarks or agenda, and ample opportunity for give-and-take on topics ranging from recycling to "spam" e-mail gathered ideas on improving "Effectiveness and Efficiency" across the college's campuses.

"From Idea to Reality: Developing a Global Product at Penn College" is the title of aLibrary Forum presentation to be offered Oct. 26 at the Roger and Peggy Madigan Library at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The program, which is free and open to the public, will be presented from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Room 200 (note location change) by C.

Pennsylvania College of Technology will host more than 1,100 students from 30 high schools during Career Day on Oct. 20. The high school students will be given opportunities to tour parts of the college and to engage in hands-on activities related to various careers. All eight of Penn College's academic schools will be represented, with 50 faculty members offering workshops or talks.

Fire College Weekend was held on campus Friday through Sunday. Approximately 260 volunteer firefighters and EMTs from across Pennsylvania and neighboring states attended the annualevent. The focus for the weekendwas upgrading and updating technical skills related to firefighting and rescue activities.

Visitation Day, a biannual event in which prospective students and their families can learn more about academic programs, facilities and campus life at Pennsylvania College of Technology, a special mission affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University, will be held Sunday, Oct. 29. From 9 a.m.

Pennsylvania College of Technology held its third annual Off-Campus Housing Landlord Luncheon and Workshop on Thursday, providing an opportunity for a wide-ranging discussion of health-and-safety and outreach issues and other matters of mutual interest.

Penn College's Ultimate Frisbee team, The Disc Jocks, finished in third place at the annual fall tournament held Saturday at Houghton College in Houghton, N.Y. The team had a 4-1 record on the day, according to adviser Kirk M. Cantor, professor of plastics and polymer technology, including wins over teams from Bloomsburg and Lock Haven universities.
