As a child, Dillon J. DeWitt spent countless hours playing with Legos, reveling in the design and assembly challenges and possibilities. As a Pennsylvania College of Technology student, he’s traded those miniature plastic bricks for components of renowned luxury vehicles. Allan Myers, the Mid-Atlantic’s largest heavy civil contractor and a valued Pennsylvania College of Technology Corporate Tomorrow Maker, has pledged $250,000 to expand its support of students and programs at the college.

Johnson Controls and its York-based Navy Systems business has bolstered welding education at Pennsylvania College of Technology by donating $30,000 worth of materials in the past year and a half. Recently, the company, a Corporate Tomorrow Maker partner of the college, boosted its support with a $10,000 gift toward curriculum enhancements and additional equipment and materials procurement.

Welding alumna Erin M. Beaver, an intermediate manufacturing engineer for the Harley-Davidson Motor Co. in York, has been chosen as an "Emerging Leader" among the 130 recipients of this year's STEP Ahead Awards from The Manufacturing Institute. This is the 10th year for the peer-nominated awards, which honor women for their contributions and impact in both manufacturing and their communities.

Jacob W. Fry, who earned a bachelor’s degree in plastics and polymer engineering technology from Penn College in 2016, has been profiled as a “Rising Star” in Plastics News. The industry publication this week posted a Q&A with Fry, who is employed as a business development manager with Currier Plastics Inc. in Auburn, New York.
